Making a difference

 The High School Outreach Program by AEC Futures Foundation brings architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) career opportunities directly to students through participation in high school career fairs and other career exploration events. We connect students, particularly those from underserved communities, with industry professionals to ignite interest in AEC fields, provide insight into career paths, and showcase the skills needed for success.

Key Program Elements:

• Career Fair Participation: Our team attends high school career fairs across the region, introducing students to the diverse and exciting opportunities within the AEC industry. Through interactive displays, hands-on demonstrations, and real-world project showcases, we offer students a tangible glimpse into the work of architects, engineers, and construction professionals.
• Career Exploration Workshops: We organize in-depth workshops where students can explore specific careers within the AEC industry. These sessions cover a range of disciplines, from sustainable design to construction management, helping students understand what each career entails, the educational path required, and the potential job outlook.
• Direct Engagement with Industry Professionals: At every event, we bring in professionals from leading AEC firms to speak with students, share their experiences, and offer mentorship. These personal interactions provide invaluable insights into the day-to-day life of AEC professionals, helping students form meaningful connections and build a network of industry contacts early on.

 At the AEC Futures Foundation, we believe that the key to shaping a more diverse, innovative, and inclusive future in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry lies in providing students, veterans, and individuals from underserved communities with the guidance and support they need to succeed. Our Mentorship Program is designed to offer personalized, one-on-one mentorship, connecting participants with experienced AEC professionals who can help guide them on their educational and career journeys.

 Program Highlights:

One-On-One Mentorship

Each participant in our Mentorship Program is paired with an industry professional based on their interests, career goals, and background. Mentors provide tailored guidance in areas such as academic planning, career development, and networking, helping participants navigate the complexities of entering and succeeding in the AEC field.

• Academic Guidance: Mentors assist students in selecting the right courses, majors, and academic programs that align with their career aspirations in architecture, engineering, or construction management.
• Career Pathway Planning: Participants gain valuable insights into the various career paths within the AEC industry, including roles in design, project management, construction trades, and sustainable building practices.
• Goal Setting: Mentors work closely with participants to establish short- and long-term goals, from securing internships to completing certifications and landing entry-level positions in the AEC sector.

The Constructing Change Program by AEC Futures Foundation is dedicated to transforming lives by providing payment assistance with OSHA training and job training resources for veterans and homeless individuals. Our mission is to break the cycle of  homelessness by helping participants rebuild their futures through rewarding careers in the AEC industry. Whether they are transitioning from military service or overcoming the challenges of homelessness, participants in the Constructing Change Program gain the confidence and connections needed to thrive.

 Program Components 

Construction Skills Training

Trade Certifications: Participants have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications in areas like OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) safety,  and more, ensuring they meet the requirements for entry-level positions in the construction industry.

Soft Skills and Professional Development

Constructing Change Program places a strong emphasis on developing the professional and life skills needed to succeed in today’s workforce. From job readiness training to financial literacy, participants are prepared to not only secure employment but also excel and advance in their careers.

Job Readiness Training: Participants receive training in key professional skills such as resume building, job interview techniques, workplace communication, and teamwork. This ensures they are fully prepared to enter the workforce with confidence.

Financial Literacy: Basic financial literacy workshops help participants manage their income, save for the future, and understand the financial aspects of being employed, such as taxes, budgeting, and opening bank accounts.

Workplace Etiquette: Participants learn the importance of professionalism on the job, including punctuality, dependability, and working effectively with others—skills that are critical to their long-term success in the industry.

Veteran Support Services

Veterans participating in the Constructing Change Program receive specialized support as they transition from military service to civilian careers in the AEC industry. Many veterans possess valuable skills and discipline from their time in the military, and this program helps them translate those skills into successful careers in construction.

Translating Military Skills: The program helps veterans identify how their military training and experience align with specific construction roles and prepares them to leverage those skills in the civilian workforce.
