High School Outreach Program by AEC Futures Foundation brings architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) career opportunities directly to students through participation in high school career fairs and other career exploration events. We connect students, particularly those from underserved communities, with industry professionals to ignite interest in AEC fields, provide insight into career paths, and showcase the skills needed for success.
Key Program Elements:
Career Fair Participation
Our team attends high school career fairs across the region, introducing students to the diverse and exciting opportunities within the AEC industry. Through interactive displays, hands-on demonstrations, and real-world project showcases, we offer students a tangible glimpse into the work of architects, engineers, and construction professionals.
Career Exploration Workshops
We host immersive workshops that allow students to explore careers across the AEC industry. From sustainable design to construction management, these sessions provide insights into each career’s responsibilities, educational requirements, and job outlook
Industry Engagement
At each event, professionals from top AEC firms engage with students, sharing their experiences and offering mentorships. These personal interactions give students a real world view of AEC careers while helping them build meaningful connections and an early professional network

AECFF's Mentorship Program is designed to offer personalized, one-on-one mentorship, connecting participants with experienced AEC professionals who can help guide them on their educational and career journeys.
Program Highlights:
One-On-One Mentorship
Each participant in our Mentorship Program is paired with an industry professional based on their interests, career goals, and background. Mentors provide tailored guidance in areas such as academic planning, career development, and networking, helping participants navigate the complexities of entering and succeeding in the AEC field.
Career Pathway Planning
Participants gain valuable insights into the various career paths within the AEC industry, including roles in design, project management, construction trades, and sustainable building practices.
Goal Setting
Mentors work closely with participants to establish short and long term goals, from securing internships to completing certifications and landing entry level positions in the AEC sector.

Program Components:
Trade Certifications
Participants have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications in areas like OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) safety, and more, ensuring they meet the requirements for entry-level positions in the construction industry.
Soft Skills & Professional Development
Participants build essential workplace skills,communication, teamwork, and problem solving while gaining professional development to help them succeed and advance in their careers.
Job Readiness Training
Participants gain essential professional skills including, resume building, interview techniques, communication, and teamwork equipping them to enter the workforce confidently and succeed.
Veteran Support Services
The Constructing Change Program provides veterans with specialized support as they transition from military service to civilian careers in the AEC industry. Many veterans bring valuable skills and discipline from their military experience, and the program helps them identify how their training aligns with specific construction roles, preparing them to leverage these skills effectively for success in the workforce.
